Teaching approach

Charlotte’s teaching is strategic, compassionate and tailored to the needs of each learner. She balances curriculum expectations with individual needs, adapting pace, delivery and assessment so that learners can access the material in a way that works for them.

Her approach is informed by trauma-aware practice and a strong interest in Polyvagal Theory. Charlotte delivers CPD training to other staff on this subject and applies trauma-informed principles in her own teaching to support a felt sense of safety and calm.

She has particular experience supporting learners with SEND and SEMH needs, including work in independent SEMH schools and with learners who have EHCPs. Charlotte focuses on building trusting relationships, reducing barriers to learning and helping students recognise their own potential.
