Professional background
Kathryn is a dedicated educator with experience teaching children aged 5–11 across the primary curriculum. She holds a PGCE and Education Studies qualification from Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln, and has a specialism in Music.
Her classroom experience includes working with classes that had a high percentage of children with Special Educational Needs and children with Education, Health and Care Plans. This has strengthened her ability to adapt her teaching style and respond to individual learning needs.
Kathryn also supports KS3 and KS4 learners with Functional Skills English, Maths and Science, as well as GCSE English and Maths. Her work includes helping learners strengthen core skills and work towards grade 4 or 5 outcomes.
In addition to her academic teaching, Kathryn is used by Learning Loft UK for mentoring, emotional literacy and SEMH support for learners up to age 18. She also supports as a Teaching Assistant for the Market Rasen Adult Autistic and ADHD Support Group.
Kathryn also has experience of online teaching, having used platforms such as Zoom during the Covid-19 pandemic. She used breakout rooms and a range of interactive methods to engage learners remotely. Alongside her classroom experience, Kathryn has privately tutored children in piano lessons and music theory, adding to her broad and creative teaching background.
Teaching approach
Kathryn’s teaching is nurturing, adaptable and centred on trust. She believes that children and young people learn best when they feel understood and supported, and that strong relationships help learners develop the confidence to take risks, ask questions and make progress.
Her approach is designed to support both academic development and a learner’s wider relationship with education. Kathryn adapts her teaching to suit individual needs, helping learners build confidence, enjoyment and independence across subjects.
For older learners, Kathryn focuses on clear, practical support that helps students strengthen core skills and move towards Functional Skills or GCSE outcomes. Her mentoring and SEMH work also allows her to support learners who may need help with confidence, emotional literacy, self-belief and readiness to engage with learning.
